TNT drivers take to the roads with fully operational scanners

TNT_scanning.JPGTNT customers want to know the status of their delivery at any moment in time. As the barcode scanners carried by the drivers play and important part in achieving this, TNT Belux (Belgium-Luxembourg) asked Zetes to deliver the best scanners and to guarantee their permanent availability. All communications between TNT drivers and the back-office use barcode scanners doubling as GPRS pocket PC's, which are permanently online. Scanned information goes directly to the server and can be accessed instantaneously by the customers. Zetes guarantees that a driver reporting to the warehouse with a faulty scanner will receive a fully operational device within thirty minutes. This concept of a managed scanner service is totally new and meets all expectations of TNT.

Visionlab-voice-SAP-eglobe.JPGZetes Voice Technology Helps Visionlab Boost its Productivity by 30%With over 150 points of sale in Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Poland, Visionlab is one of the leading optical chains in Europe. Due to its fast growth, Visionlab had to think of a way of updating its supply systems to increase delivery speeds and offer an improved service. To keep to its promise of “your glasses in under an hour”, a new logistical model was devised that had to take into account the following demands: speed, flexibility, reliability, traceability and productivity. After carefully analysing the various available technologies, Visionlab opted for a combination of automatic carousels and the Zetes 3iVoice solution. The Zetes 3iV solution allows the exchange of information between the ERP or SGA and the voice-based data capture system. The advantage is that the operator works hands-free and carries out his work without taking his eyes off the task in hand, thus increasing his productivity, reliability and ergonomic comfort. This solution was supported by Talkman® T5 terminals from Vocollect®.

Aviapartner and Zetes innovate freight handling at European airports

Aviapartner-eglobe.JPGAviapartner used Zetes’ services for both the development and the implementation of its automation project.Aviapartner is the fourth largest "ground handler" in the world and offers a wide range of services, including the handling of passenger baggage and cargo goods, at a large number of European airports. Delays in the flow of goods can result in serious financial consequences for logistics service providers and goods handlers and for this reason, Aviapartner, which carries out ground handling activities at 37 European airports, has chosen to automate its counting, distribution and localisation process for freight.Aviapartner chose Zetes for this project because the company is active world-wide and can therefore offer local support via local people, at each of the stations within its European network. This new IT system (AS-400 interface) automates the counting activity in the warehouse, as well as optimising the distribution of goods per freight unit and per aircraft, working via a wireless system with a portable intelligent Motorola terminal and Zebra label printers. Bulgarian Telecoms uses Zetes' MiNetConnect

BulgarianTelecomsView-eglobe.JPGBulgarian Telecoms simplifies SAP for warehouse users using Zetes' MiNetConnect.Following the collapse of Communism, the Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC) needed to re-engineer its business processes in order to compete within the wider European marketplace. It faced the challenge of how to upgrade its IT infrastructure and improve warehouse efficiency and accuracy without baffling inexperienced users. BTC undertook a major programme to implement SAP but felt the warehouse application was too powerful for their relatively inexperienced users. They needed to identify a specialist who could enable the company to use its SAP technology on wireless, handheld devices They therefore identified Zetes, as a specialist integrator, because they offered a standard application solution in MiNetConnect which enables the integration of wireless devices into the SAP system. Heppner improves traceability and speeds up its logistics flow

HeppnerAvion-eglobe.JPGThanks to ZetesInterscan, Heppner has a real-time data entry system which is efficient and user friendly.Heppner is France’s premier independent logistics services provider, supplying transport services for national and international parcel delivery and freight, and sea and air transport. To improve the performance of its parcel services and logistics operations further, Heppner wanted to implement an efficient and user friendly, real-time data entry system.ZetesInterscan was subsequently chosen to provide the solution and the mobile terminals to ensure full traceability of 25 million packages that are handled or stored by the group each year in France. The process starts with the "flashing" of the parcels when they enter the Heppner network and then continues for each handling or event that affects the parcels. The deployment for the fifty sites in France took two months. ZetesInterscan supplied 500 mobile terminals, Motorola MC9090s, and the entire integration of two applications: one for client/server mode and the other for terminal emulation. Since the deployment, Heppner has had fewer disputes, increased its logistics flow and had greater involvement from its branches.

Kellogg Manufacturing entrusts its traceability project to Zetes

Kellogg-eglobe.JPGThe project involved the introduction of LabelPack real time label printing and application equipment.Kellogg, the North American multinational market leader, has been operating in Spain since 1978. A large majority of its products are manufactured in the Valls plant (Tarragona), which produces a broad range of cereals, earmarked for both Spain and other European countries such as Portugal, Italy and France. Therefore, it is hardly surprising that Valls is where Zetes has introduced a “turnkey” solution for the automatic labelling of pallets based on its in-house developed MD printer applicators. The aim of this project was to optimise the traceability control system through the double sided printing of all the pallet labels in line with standard GS1-128 (the former EAN), as required by supermarkets and the European food traceability Standard. Zetes was awarded with the contract for this project thanks to its experience and its ability to provide a global solution, as manufacturers of Print&Apply equipment with its own custom software. The advantages have been significant for Kellogg Manufacturing, as traceability enables them to optimise warehouse management as well as be more pro-active with regards to its customers.

The change to voice-activated picking and the resulting optimization of work processes has achieved the intended objective: optimizing pick accuracy and reducing the pick error rate to 0,05 percent. The METRO Group is among the largest mercantile firms in the world, with subsidiaries in more than 30 countries. MGL’s distribution centres serve as an advance distribution stage for local affiliates and markets. A technology investment with a value of several million euros needs to be carefully planned. For this reason, the MGL project team based its decision on customer references and detailed conversations with experienced users of voice technologies. A visit to GLOBUS Logistics and Service GmbH in Bingen, which has been using voice-activated picking for several years already, convinced them that implementing a voice system using Zetes GmbH in Willich was the right decision.

NPX chooses for a real time proof of delilvery solution

NPX-eglobe.JPGStart up NPX gets early adopter edge with real time proof of delivery systemNPX came to Zetes because they realized having a cutting edge electronic proof of delivery solution (ePOD), would be a critical differentiator for a start up company within the already crowded parcel delivery marketplace. Formed in 2005 by a group of individuals who saw a gap for a very high quality, ultra reliable B2B provider, NPX is now one of the top 5 companies in its sector. NPX employs over 50 drivers, shipping a wide range of goods from computer hardware and electronic equipment to critical medical supplies with a finite shelf life.Zetes developed a complete electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) solution using 2D barcodes, which involved the supply of all hardware and software plus after sales support and system maintenance. NPX wanted to enable customers to generate their own labels, which are then scanned whenever a parcel is handled. They also wanted the ability to capture customer data, with information gathered sent back to NPX host systems on a regular basis. Specialist wireless application software designed by Zetes was installed on the handheld client computers, enabling server side communication to extract data and upload it onto the central database.

Servair-eglobe.JPGIn order to trace a large number of products, Servair decided to implement an IT system and abandon their paper-based workflow.Servair is a subsidiary of Air France and the third largest aviation catering company in the world. Every day the company creates, prepares and loads 120.000 meal trays.Every minute counts for Servair. To do this, all the products had to be identified with a barcode to enable scanning and real-time updating and monitoring of tasks. The ZetesInterscan solution consisted of label printers, portable Intermec terminals, the redeployment of the RF infrastructure and the necessary wifi installations for the correct functioning of the terminals.Automatic traceability has enabled Servair to improve the productivity of its employees, save space in the warehouse and have full traceability of its products.
